Charleston's beloved Capitol Market is getting its biggest upgrade in decades. Officials announced a $12 million expansion project that will add a year-round indoor market hall, 40 new vendor spaces, and a community events pavilion.
New Features
The centerpiece is a 15,000-square-foot climate-controlled indoor hall featuring a food court with seating for 200, a demonstration kitchen, dedicated spaces for local artisans, and a small-batch brewery.
"This market has been the heart of Charleston for generations," said Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin.
Timeline
Construction begins in June, with the indoor hall expected to open by Thanksgiving 2026.
