Majestic Care to Break Ground on 311 New Nursing Beds in Charleston, Fairmont and Morgantown
Majestic Care is investing at least $50 million in three new skilled nursing communities in Charleston, Fairmont and Morgantown, with groundbreakings Nov. 3-5 and openings expected in 2028.
Three West Virginia communities are about to get shovels in the ground on something families here have needed for a long time: more places close to home where a loved one can heal, recover, or live with good care around them.
Majestic Care, a skilled nursing provider based in Westfield, Indiana, plans to build three new care communities in Charleston, Fairmont and Morgantown, adding a combined 311 skilled nursing beds. The company says the three projects represent an investment of at least $50 million, part of a broader commitment of at least $80 million across the Mountain State.
Groundbreaking ceremonies kick off this week, one town a day, each at 11 a.m.:
Charleston goes first on Tuesday, Nov. 3. Majestic Care of Charleston is planned at 810 Cross Lanes Drive with 106 beds.
Fairmont follows on Wednesday, Nov. 4. Majestic Care of Fairmont is planned at 1189-1145 Industrial Park Road with 100 beds.
Morgantown wraps it up on Thursday, Nov. 5. Majestic Care of Morgantown is planned at 967 Grafton Road with 105 beds.
Each building is planned at roughly 52,000 square feet. According to the company, the designs include clinical and rehabilitation spaces to support recovery, dining and family gathering areas where residents can spend time with the people they love, outdoor wellness spaces, and dedicated training areas for staff. The new communities are expected to open in 2028.
"West Virginia is an important part of Majestic Care's future, and these new communities will help us better serve Residents and families," Majestic Care CEO Paul Pruitt said in the company's announcement. "We want to create environments that strengthen the care our teams provide every day, giving Care Team members the training, space and resources they need to perform at their best."
The company also says the projects will create new employment opportunities in West Virginia, which is welcome news in three communities where health care already ranks among the biggest employers.
This isn't Majestic Care's first stake in the state. The company already runs four West Virginia facilities, in Beckley, Fairmont, Terra Alta in Preston County and West Columbia in Mason County. Those were previously state-owned facilities that Majestic Care took over last year. Across all the states it serves, the company operates 49 communities offering short-term rehabilitation, long-term care and memory care.
For a lot of West Virginia families, finding a skilled nursing bed near home can mean a long drive, a waiting list, or both. Adding more than 300 beds across the Kanawha Valley and north-central West Virginia won't fix that overnight, but it's a real step, and it starts this week with a few gold shovels and a lot of Mountain State dirt.
