WWE SmackDown Comes to Charleston for the First Time Ever Tonight
Friday Night SmackDown broadcasts live from the Vandalia Health Coliseum tonight, Oct. 30, the show's first-ever visit to Charleston, with three championship matches on the card.
CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Grab your foam fingers, Kanawha Valley. For the first time ever, WWE’s Friday Night SmackDown is coming to you live from Charleston tonight, Oct. 30, as the show rolls into the Vandalia Health Coliseum on Civic Center Drive.
It’s a big night for the Capital City. SmackDown has never before been broadcast from Charleston, and tonight’s show is WWE’s first event in the city since 2023. Doors open at 6 p.m., the in-arena show starts at 7:30 p.m., and the national television broadcast kicks off at 8 p.m. Eastern on USA, so folks back home can watch the Coliseum crowd make some noise for the whole country.
WWE has stacked the card with three championship matches. In the main event, Undisputed WWE Champion Sami Zayn puts his title on the line against United States Champion Trick Williams. WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green defends her belt against WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella, and Rey Fenix defends the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship against Ricky Saints.
Since it’s the night before Halloween, WWE is giving the broadcast a spooky twist, billing it as a special edition called “Danhausen’s Very Nice, Very Evil SmackDown.” As always with live wrestling, the Coliseum notes that the card is subject to change.
The wrestlers didn’t just show up to fight, either. On Thursday, Ricky Saints and fellow WWE Superstar Blake Monroe stopped by Vandalia Health CAMC Women and Children’s Hospital to visit kids receiving care there. Hospital staff were presented with a custom WWE championship belt as part of the company’s Season of Giving holiday campaign — a pretty special moment for some young fans who couldn’t make it to the arena.
Heading downtown tonight? A few tips from the Coliseum: parking is available at the Quarrier Street Garage, but it’s expected to fill up quickly, so plan to get there early. The venue enforces a clear bag policy, allowing clear purses and bags, small wristlets or clutches under 8 by 5 inches, diaper bags and medical bags. Knives and weapons of any kind are prohibited.
For a state that has always loved its Friday nights, from high school football under the lights to a packed arena like this one, it’s a fun one. Whether you’ve got a ticket or you’re cheering from the couch, keep an eye out for that Charleston crowd on national TV tonight. Let’s show the world how loud West Virginia can get.
